Maths test

Description:We had to do a stage 4 and 5 math test so we could find our starting point for maths.
I found out that most of the questions on my page weren't completed because of time.
I need to work on my knowledge.

Purpose: To find out what stage we will start on for maths.

Area of maths: Maths knowledge.

My goal is stage 5 how many.

I need to be able to recognize the same questions but turned around, as well as how many 10's 2's and 5's in a number. I would like to prove these by the end of next week so I can start my next goal.

I know that I can achieve this because I can now recognize where  two questions are the same.

I know I am nearly ready because I need to be able to do it in 3 seconds and I am not far off that.

I will accomplish my goal by... My next step is to draw on my natural curiosity and see things from others view across a rage of genre. I can accomplish this in a time frame of through the holidays and by mid term be perfect at it. I can see this is something new for me so it may take that half a term to get really good at it.

I will accomplish my goal by... My goal is to chose the right strategy to use at the the time. I think that this is a realistic goal for me because I have to ask a buddy normally or the teacher. I want to work one this through the holidays and come back to school with a good idea of when to use what strategy.

Hi. This is my maths sample. It is about our new strategy to solve hard times tables using our 5 times tables.

I think that I have done a good job on my poster. I also understand this strategy!

Today we did a project with maths. We had to see what we needed to improve on. I think that a good goal to have would be to try understand this more and learn more strategies to work it out!

We have been working on some camp maths lately. Why? We are going on camp! I have really enjoyed working this out with Grace. We got the first bit and worked independently.

I think that this maths problem we got a bit of help from Nick in the end as a great way to get us all engaged and excited about camp. We got a bit of help from Nick to do the last bit here is what we found out!

3 Simple steps

Here are the 3 simple steps you need to know to get this question right!

Step one.

The question. Look at your question carefully read it a few times.

389 + ? = 600

Step 2.

The strategy . Use the strategy below to get the answer. The strategy is just making tidy numbers.

+ 1 = 390 + 10 = 400 + 200 =


Tidy numbers are any numbers that end with 0. 

It may be helpful to under line the number that you have added.

Step 3.

The answer. The last step is to put all the numbers we added together you may want to underline the numbers we added. Look at how the under lined numbers relate to the answer.

= 211!

Today we are using the code below to find the answers to the questions. As you may be able to see he z is the highest number and A is the lowest. This is because the numbers get higher as the Alphabet goes on.
